Great question. Pic of the Bunch is a completely unique way of capturing photos for your dating profile – and one we’re pretty excited about.
Once you’ve taken the plunge and signed up, we’ll send you over some further information about the shoot, including the exact location where you’ll meet your group. This will be a central spot, easy to reach by public transport so you can arrive relaxed, stress-free and ready to rock.
On the day of your shoot, our photographer will gather the group together (no more than six people) and give a brief introduction to help you get acquainted. We’ll then head to a few different locations, no more than a few minutes’ walk between each. At each spot, carefully chosen to accentuate your natural beauty of course, our photographers will capture genuine, organic shots while you concentrate on getting to know your group and having fun. We might even stop for a coffee (or something stronger if you’re feeling adventurous) and bite to eat as part of the experience.
We will provide you with direction when necessary to give the best chance of creating photos which will pop on your profile and engage in some more “posed” shots with each participant so everyone leaves with a variety of strong portraits to choose from. Should you have something specific in mind for your photos, we are happy to help make it a reality (within reason of course – for example, we probably won’t be able to source any exotic predators for you to pose with).
After your shoot is complete, we will get busy editing and retouching your photos. Once this is done, we will send you a link to choose your favourite photos for download. Three photos are included in each Pic of the Bunch shoot, with extra photos available for purchase on our website.
Easy, right?

There are lots of great photographers out there and you should definitely consider them. However, there aren’t many specialised in dating photography and there are none at all (at the time of writing anyway) doing it the way we do – by bringing together groups of singles to create natural-looking photos for your profile and giving you a chance to connect with other fun people like yourself in the process. Instead of photos that can look staged and awkward, we create profile pics that will get you noticed for all the right reasons.

In short: a lot. Everyone can instinctively understand that good profile photos will increase your chances of success. After all, we’ve all had the same feeling of frustration on the apps, squinting at blurry photos or faced with another bathroom mirror selfie.
Clever people have done studies on the effect good photos can have on dating app success, and the results are as you might expect. A 2020 Skylum and YouGov online study reported that:
38% of respondents said the better the photos, the more likely they are to swipe right/connect
28% are willing to overlook social preferences (e.g., drinking, smoking, etc.) if someone has good photos
Other dating negatives which could be overlooked if someone had good photos included dating intention e.g. long-term, short-term, casual, etc. (27%), education (26%), political views (24%) and height (23%)
Some of the most common dealbreakers reported by the same study included:
Bad quality photos (34%)
Photo filters (31%)
Mirror pics/gym selfies (23%)
Photos with an exotic animal/pet that might not be theirs (19%)
Hey Saturday and online clothing retailer Flannels conducted their own study on whether better profile pictures get more right swipes on Tinder:
“Two separate Tinder profiles were set up and run for a period of two weeks each. Apart from the photos used, the profiles were identical. Using the same model, each profile displayed a different set of dating photos. One set of dating pics were taken by a pro and were well lit, showcasing a well-dressed man looking relaxed, smiling and happy. The other set of photos were basic, moody looking selfies with no attention paid to clothing, style or the background of the images. So, what happened? The man in the well-dressed Tinder profile received 72 matches over the two-week period, compared to just 18 matches for the basic, laid back profile.”
In short, the professional photos led to a 400% increase in dating app success. Not a bad return on investment, right?

That’s a good point, group shots taken from a distance and showing lots of people are not the one. Potential matches can’t see your lovely face – or they might be able to, but they won’t be sure if you’re who they should be looking at.
At Pic of the Bunch, we don’t take those kinds of photos. The idea is to make it obvious you’re in a group environment, hanging out with friends and having a good time, but the focus is on you and only you. In 90% of our photos, other people might appear in the corner of the frame but nothing distracts from you as the main subject.
For the other 10%, we sometimes happen to capture great photos of two or three people interacting together which can also look good on a profile (you’re a person who socialises!) when paired with other photos. In any case, you have the option to choose whether you would like these photos as part of your final, retouched set, or stick with those without any potentially distracting elements.

We try to create groups with a good mixture of genders, ages and vibes but we don’t guarantee anything specific. We recommend going in with an open mind and you won’t be disappointed.

All our photographers are handpicked for their awesomeness. As well as being able to capture a great portrait, we also make sure everyone who’s behind the camera for Pic of the Bunch is warm and friendly and able to create a fun atmosphere for the shoot. We aim to create photos that look like they could have been taken while hanging out with a talented photographer friend and, by the end of the day, we hope that’s actually an accurate origin story.

Yes, our shoots are always held in the great outdoors. This allows us to make use of flattering natural light rather than rely on artificial flash which can be difficult to manipulate for large groups. By working with the light available, our photographers have more time to concentrate on framing the best photos and directing the group rather than fiddling with their speedlights and strobes.
However, sometimes the elements conspire against us. If the weather forecast is looking particularly miserable, feel free to contact us by 6pm the day before the shoot and we will be happy to reschedule at no cost.

There is no age limit for booking a shoot with Pic of the Bunch but the average participant is somewhere in the 25-45 range. However, whatever your age, we’re sure you’ll have a great time meeting new people and stepping outside your normal social circle.

The idea is that the shots we capture might have been taken by a friend at a social gathering – you’ve put the effort in and are looking great but aren’t wearing anything too formal. If you imagine something you might wear to a summer bbq at a friend’s house, Sunday lunch in the pub or Thursday night drinks after work then you’ll have the right idea. Just to be clear: we don’t provide any clothes or accessories. We’re relying on you for that part of the equation.
If you wish to change outfits during the shoot, we will be making stops at bars, restaurants and the odd public toilet (who said this wasn’t glamorous?) where you can make the necessary adjustments. A good trick is to bring a few different items to layer on top of each other. That way you can easily alter your look without too much difficulty, especially as most of our shots will be focusing on the top half of your body. Changing hairstyles and adding/removing accessories or make-up can all have similarly transformative effects.
Most importantly, wear something you’re comfortable in and which works well for you.
Pro tip: Ditch the sunglasses. Research suggests your fancy new shades can put off potential matches as they obscure too much of your face and the all-important eyes. Bono would be hopeless on Tinder.

You’ve got to bring yourself, that part is kind of key. You also need to bring your own clothes and any accessories or props you’d like to use. Books, magazines or even a few tinnies can all add a little something to the final product.
You’ll also need to have any make-up done prior to arrival and bringing it along if you need a touch-up is always a good idea. If possible, having your hair and make-up done professionally prior to the session can add that extra wow factor.

We don’t provide any food or drink during the shoot but we do sometimes make stops at establishments where it is available and where we would encourage you to make a purchase to improve the verisimilitude of the photos and support the businesses concerned. However, it is not required.
Please also feel free to bring any of your own props if you think they would add something to the final photos. We will be in public places so generally eating and drinking whatever you bring is fine outside of when we are at a café or bar etc. When you make your booking, you will be given information on where exactly we are headed to help inform your choices.

After your shoot has concluded, we will provide a link with all your photos lightly edited and retouched. From these, you will pick three of your favourites for download.
If you would like more photos, you can purchase these for an additional fee through our website.

Of course, we save all our shoots across multiple hard drives as well as the cloud. However, that’s quite expensive so we can only guarantee we’ll hold your photos for a month after the session. Make sure you keep them safe and remember to save them in more than one location!

We get it – getting good pictures of yourself is hard. Often, the way you think you look doesn't quite translate to how you appear on the screen. Resentment ensues – of your genetics, your phone camera, the poor person who took the photo. Nobody is safe.
However, we’re confident that with our magical combination of beautiful lighting; the latest camera equipment; some editing wizardry; and direction and posing suited to your body and profile, we can deliver photos you love.
-
We endeavour to choose accessible locations but there will be some travel by foot between each. If you are concerned, please reach out to us and we can work out a solution.
-
Don’t worry if you’re running late but please let us know by dropping us a text or giving us a call and we will send our location so you can catch up with us later. We don’t provide refunds if you’re late but we’ll always endeavour to give you more focus to make up for any lost time. This should ensure you still leave with photos you love.

If you need to reschedule for any reason within 48 hours of the shoot, you will need to pay a 50% charge.
If you need to cancel, we offer full refunds up to 72 hours before the day of your shoot. Between 24 and 72 hours, we offer a 50% refund and for less than 24 hours’ notice, we will retain all fees.
